Yellow River Wildlife Sanctuary

A child’s fascination with animals is such a sight to see. From birth, soft, fluffy animals fill nurseries and become the first best friend for many children. Our boys are no exception to this! They love animals!

And while this summer has looked unlike any other, we were determined to make an adventure of each day during our “staycation.” We ventured into the wild and took a little excursion to the recently renovated Yellow River Wildlife Sanctuary located along the Yellow River in Lilburn, Georgia.

Know before you go:

– They open at 10a (and I recommend getting there as close to opening as possible in the summer months to beat the heat and crowds!)
– Parking is free.
– Children 2 and under are free to enter. $18 for adults + $12 for children 3-12.
– There is an add-on option to feed the animals or purchase a gem mining kit.
– There is a gift shop on-site.

Formerly known as the Yellow River Game Ranch, the new name comes with new management and a new mission to serve as a sanctuary that benefits animals and educates humans.

The staff located throughout the sanctuary were friendly and knowledgeable. Rosie (pictured) was the sweetest staffer and informed us all about the Lynx and chimps.

Overall, we enjoyed the newly refreshed experience, the convenience to metro Atlanta, and the boys have asked to return again soon!
